What changes the job in Cork
Older homes, older pipes and wiring
43% of Cork homes were built before 1981 (Ireland: 41%). In an older house a new layout usually means new pipes and wiring behind it: moving the sink, cooker, extractor or sockets adds about €1,000 to €4,000. Ask for it in the same quote as the kitchen, and get the electrics done by a Registered Electrical Contractor, with a certificate.
New homes and one-off houses
3,715 new homes were finished in Cork in 2025, 685 of them one-off houses. In a self-build the kitchen goes in after the plastering, so bring the kitchen design to the builder before the first fix: the sink, hob and sockets then go where the kitchen needs them, first time.
Homes people own
66% of Cork households own their home (Ireland: 66%), and the average home has 3.2 bedrooms. Most kitchens here are in family houses, which is where the made-to-measure range of €15,000 to €25,000 sits.
